Geely Auto Partners with Indonesian Dealers to Electrify the Market

December 2nd, 2024    On November 28, 2024, Geely Auto, the global provider of mobility tech ecosystem, announced a strategic partnership with five prominent Indonesian dealers. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Geely's expansion into one of Southeast Asia's largest automotive markets, also demonstrates the company’s unwavering determination to continuously expand and deepen its presence globally.

 

The ceremony was graced by Evin Ye, Deputy Manager of Geely Auto International Corporation (GAIC), Xufeng Zhu, Executive Deputy Manager of the Finance Center at Geely Auto Group, Jianguo Zhang, HR Director of Human Resource Center at Geely Auto Group, Victor Gao, Managing Director of Geely Auto Indonesia, and representatives from the Indonesian dealer partners.

 

"Indonesia is not only a dynamic and promising market, but also a critical step for Geely to expand its presence in the right-hand-drive segment. The dealer partners we’ve collaborated with are not only well-established and widely recognized, but more importantly, they have a deep understanding of Chinese automotive brands and share Geely's vision to jointly develop the Indonesian market." said Ye.

 

Test drive the EX5

 

To further strengthen the partnership, Geely hosted a delegation of Indonesian dealers at its headquarters in Hangzhou. During the visit, the dealers toured Geely's state-of-the-art R&D center and Qiantang manufacturing plant, gaining insights into the brand's commitment to technological advancement and quality. A key highlight of the visit was the opportunity to test drive the Geely EX5, experiencing firsthand the outstanding performance and quality of this flagship Electric SUV, which further strengthened their confidence in collaborating with Geely.

In recent years, Indonesia's automotive market has experienced rapid growth. In this September, electric vehicles accounted for 5.8% of total vehicle sales in Indonesia. The Indonesian government has set ambitious goals, aiming for electric vehicle sales to reach 350,000 units and a market share of 32% by 2030. Furthermore, the government plans to establish approximately 25,000 charging stations to support this growth.

 

"Geely will enter the Indonesian market with pure electric models and leverage our extensive, multi-brand product matrix that covers various categories and prices. Over the next three years, we plan to introduce 5-7 models, including SUVs, MPVs, and BEVs, PHEVs, and ICE vehicles, to meet the diverse needs of different market segments," said Victor Gao, Managing Director of Geely Auto Indonesia.
