The world needs to reduce emissions, conserve energy, and ensure sustainable development, naturally this means cars need to use new energy. Geely sees new energy vehicles as the future of the industry and has invested heavily into the development of new energy vehicles.
As part of the Blue Geely Campaign, Geely Auto has set a goal of bringing down the cost of hybrid cars to the same as traditional combustion cars and a target of having new energy vehicles accounting for 90% of Geely’s total annual sales by 2020.
Not only is Geely Auto developing electric vehicles, other alternative fuels such as methanol are also being looked at. Working together with Carbon Recycling International in Iceland, Geely Auto has successfully tested pure methanol vehicles over a 12-month period.
